What is Svastha?

Svastha (Sanskrit) is the Ayurvedic term for health. Literally translated, Svastha means "established in the self." This translation illuminates the Ayurvedic perspective of health as a state of harmony among all aspects of the self: physical, spiritual, and mental. To be established in oneself connotates both a healthy sense of esteem and life purpose, as well a vibrant spiritual connection with the universe.

In Ayurveda, imbalances give root to disease, and thus health is not defined by the absence of disease; being physically disease free is just one of the many benefits of being in balance.

Svastha Health is dedicated to reviving this ancient wisdom for greater balance and self-awareness....welcome and enjoy!

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda (pronounced aah-yure-vay-dha)=the knowledge of life.

"Life" itself is defined as the "combination of the body, sense organs, mind and soul, the factor responsible for preventing decay and death, which sustains the body over time, and guides the processes of rebirth" (Charaka Samhita).  So you can begin to imagine how comprehensive this knowledge is!Simply stated, Ayurveda is a holistic healing system to harmonize the body, mind, and soul. Most all modern healing modalities have their roots in Ayurveda (reiki, acupuncture, herbalism, yoga, aromatherapy, sound, color, and gem therapies).

Brief History: The first evidence of human writing dates back to 7000BC: these texts originated in India and contain the knowledge and philosophy of ancient Vedic society. These Sankscrit texts, came after many years of conveying this knowledge base through oral tradition, so the true origins of Vedic sciences are even older. Ayurveda is one of the many great sciences from these sentinel texts. The ancient rishis(sages) used Ayurveda to maintain their health so they could  continue unimpeded on their quest for enlightenment.

Mountain Rose is one of the few herb distributors that is concerned with high standards and is organic! Their prices are very reasonable and they've been around since 1987. I love their essential oils as well.
